About Dead Last Strange and supernatural with a humorous bent, Dead Last chronicles the misadventures of a fledgling rock band on the verge of being discovered when the rockers accidentally stumble upon a magical ancient amulet that gives them the power to see ghosts... whether they want to or not. Suddenly, their popularity skyrockets -- if only with the dead -- as they find themselves eternally stuck with the unwanted task of helping an endless parade of apparitions resolve their unfinished business so they can move on to the next world. It is not as if the band, named The Problem, didn't already have their fair share of issues before the amulet put their relationships -- and their sanity -- to the test. Vaughn Parrish (newcomer Kett Turton) is the brooding and charismatic guitarist and singer, who sometimes lets his ego get the better of him. His band mate since high school is Scotty Sallback (Tyler Labine, Antitrust), the band's hulking drummer whose rough-and-tumble exterior hides a good-natured soul. Jane Cahill (Sara Downing, Roswell), The Problem's beautiful bass player, often serves as the peacemaker of the group, mediating artistic differences between the two guys.
No matter how hard Vaughn, Scotty and Jane try to reject their bizarre new mission and pursue musical stardom, the amulet remains -- it cannot be destroyed, sold, given away or even swallowed. Like it or not, these three musicians will be greeted around every corner by the walking dead, from Pilgrims to Redcoats, Depression-era convicts to modern-day lonely hearts, deceased cheerleaders and even murderers with earthly work left undone. The Problem has a new lifelong gig -- helping the dearly departed to actually depart.
This un-asked-for ghost counseling is not only a real obstacle to life on tour, it's often downright dangerous. In the midst of all the paranormal chaos, their tightly wound manager, Dennis Budny (Wayne Péré, Out of Sight), who has wrangled the group for two years, keeps the threesome on the road playing gigs in hopes of landing a record deal.
This otherworldly rock 'n' roll comedy was created by Steve Pink, D.V. DeVincentis and Patrick O'Neill, who serve as executive producers. Dead Last is produced by Evanston Motor and Pump in association with Warner Bros. Television.
